Hello, this is Alex again with some links that caught my attention over the last week.

First off, Nonoba released an API for developing online multiplayer Flash games last week. The way it works is  you use the API to make your multiplayer game, then you upload it on Nonoba's own servers. Check it out here.

After the jump, an indie game with a cool, meta idea going on for it.

Written for a game contest, MMORPG Tycoon puts you at the helm of ShadiSoft (har) Software, the latest company to release a mediocre MMO which went down like a rock. Now it's time for you to get your hands dirty under the hood and bring it back on the floating line. I found the interface a bit clumsy but otherwise the game's pretty neat. First heard about this on Raph Koster's blog.

Gamasutra runs a story on  "Who's paying and why in virtual worlds", something debated in a Social Gaming Summit pannel. The "money quote" of the panel? "People say it's a bad business model because you're only making money on 10 percent of your player base, but I come back and say my userbase is 10 times the size of yours."

Finally, if you aren't a regular reader of the FL Marketing, Strategy&Innovation, well now's the time to give it a(nother) look. We've been adding new and exciting contributors, people whose articles are sure to provide you with fresh perspectives on things. So why not head over and have a look?
