Hi and welcome to another installment of "articles you may have missed and you may or may not care about".

First off, The Angry Gamer, an introductory analysis of..well.. trash talking. While not necessarily revealing anything you didn't already know, the author did do his homework and took the subject quite seriously.

Then - lo and behold - John Riccitiello from EA says "We're boring people to death and making games that are harder and harder to play". The next day EA announces a new football game. Insert your own jokes here.

The Escapist website is uglier now but their content is still worth reading. Go here for a good interview with Richard Garriott.

I've been pondering on whether to try LOTRO or not for a while now. I keep hearing great things about it but do I want to get sucked into yet another MMO? I don't know. Eitherway, here's an interesting article concerning LOTRO and immersion.

And finally, a piece about didactic/training games titled World of Borecraft. I don't fully agree with the author, there are plently of serious games out there with enough added entertainment value but on the other end, there are indeed enough incredibly dull games. Besides, here's how the article starts:

"Ever since video games were invented, parents and teachers have been trying to make them boring."

Flog me if you want but I found that hilarious.

Alex out.
