News, Links, Stories

Much to my chagrin, I again find myself in the mindset where anything beyond a small listing of links just won't tick right.

So here we go again. First off, you might've noticed that people started blogging about the latest panic wave that hit Second Life. It took a large portion of my will to refrain from making any comments of any nature, but here's a good observation from csven, picked up from the comments on this post:

In the context of what’s on the net - real flesh and blood - the cartoon pron in Second Life is tame. That’s in no way is an endorsement or an excuse, but with slave trafficking and child prostitution at seemingly epidemic levels, some priorities need to be set. There are some serious and seriously disturbing things that demand everyone’s attention… and it’s not happening in SL.

In other SL news, Playboy. Soon.

Also, career fair.

(verbs are overrated)

I like GameAlmighty. The tacky theme aside, they have articles that are usually worth reading. This particular one took me back. It's on the trials a poor gamer had to go through, back in the day. Of course, they forgot 'having your head chopped off by a dinosaur claw' but pretty much everything else is in there.

Acclaim announced the commercial launch of their free MMO, 9dragons, a game I still have nightmares about. Later that day, their new PayByCash payment option was revealed, giving customers alternative ways of purchasing Acclaim Coins which in turn can be used to buy game items and such. Well alright then.

On the subject of kung fu games, apparently Sony's got something in the works as well. Not for you though, unless you're Chinese. Is it good? Is it bad? We'll see.

And to wrap it on a more serious note, In-game ads sector risks cannibalizing itself says Ed Bartlett.
